José Iglesias Morán

Dr. Jose Iglesias is an ITPS member since its creation. He was born and raised in Benavente (Spain), and he is currently professor of Chemical Engineering at URJC, where he has been part of the faculty since 2008. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Universidad Complutense in 1999 and a Ph.D. from URJC in 2005, working in the development of new heterogeneous catalytic systems for chiral transformations. His early post-doc research focused on heterogeneous catalysis and materials science, combining catalyst design and kinetic studies, to study chemical transformations in the fields of fine chemistry, petrochemistry and biofuels.

His current research focuses on the development of new catalytic technologies for a sustainable chemical industry. The core of his research is the design of catalysts within the context of green chemistry, and the evaluation of their interaction with processes, paying attention to the efficient use of energy and low environmental impact. In other words, I apply chemical engineering tools to develop new energy efficient, environmentally friendly and economically profitable chemical processes that use renewable and waste feedstocks.

Here you can find some of the projects he has been working in the last few years: FRACTION European Commission, 101023202; BioRing European Commission, 101112379; Cat4BioMon AEI, PID2021-122736OB-C44; Twincler AEI, TED2021-132210B-I00.
