Alberto Losa Guijarro

Alberto Losa Guijarro is a pre-doctoral researcher in training (1st year) at the University Rey Juan Carlos, his doctoral thesis focuses on the field of the treatment of water effluents for their revalorization. Consisting of the application of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) and Advances Reduction Processes (ARP) to valorize wastewater from different sources through the treatment of nitrogen compounds present in aqueous effluents. More specifically, the aim is to carry out the photo-assisted oxidation of ammonia to nitrate in aquaponic systems and the sustainable synthesis of ammonia by photo-reduction of nitrates in different wastewaters.
Previously he was a research assistant doing various activities, studying the synthesis of diverse photocatalytic materials and the evaluation of its activity within the context of water treatment.
Before that he worked for the water analysis company Laboratorio Control Microbiológico Bilacon, evaluating samples of effluents from different origins, where he developed different skills, such as data analysis and treatment, preparation of calibrations, reports and conclusions writing, and the management of analytical equipment.
Regarding training, he graduated in 2021 in Chemistry from the Universidad Complutense, and he obtained the Master of Chemical Technology and Science with specialization in Nanoscience and Nanomaterials from the Universidad Complutense too, in 2022.
